Customer Care Team Arranging care can be stressful, we’re here to help. Based in Leeds, our Customer Care Team provides free advice and support whenever you need it. With sitting rooms, space for Residents to pursue their hobbies and interests and a lovely dining room, Broadoak Manor has a host of places in which to relax, dine, exercise, socialise and be creative. The pretty landscaped garden and patio is the perfect spot to spend time with friends and family, and is happily looked after by some of our Residents. The bright, comfortable bedrooms and living areas are all easily accessible by wheelchair. Here at Broad Oak Manor we look for the very best people to join us and whilst our management team are hands on, we work hard to empower our teams and allow their thoughts and opinions to be heard.
There was a complaints procedure in place, however relatives told us they never had a cause to complain as any concerns they had were resolved promptly. There were good links developed with the local community and relatives of people were regularly attending a range of organised events at the service. Care designed to provide quality support and comfort for people living with life-limiting conditions. Individuals who require 24-hour assistance and care from qualified nurses due to medical conditions and/or personal living needs. This may include people that require intensive rehabilitative care following a stroke, or simply need support using a peg feeding tube.

Our extensively trained team will deliver all the nursing, specialist care and support services that your loved one requires. Staff had the skills and knowledge necessary to provide people with safe and effective care and support.

Staff we spoke with were knowledgeable about people's individual requirements and how to support their needs. One person we spoke with told us, "I am very happy living here, I feel like the staff put me first and listen to what I would like, and I have no concerns what so ever with the quality of the care." The Care Quality Commission is England's health and social care services regulator. Broad Oak Manor is rated good, based on the level of care and safety at the home. During our inspection on 8 January 2013 we spoke with four people who lived at the home and the relatives of another person. All provided positive feedback about the service they, or their relative, received at Broad Oak Manor Nursing Home.People told us that they were involved in decisions about their care and treatment.

People received appropriate support to maintain healthy nutrition and hydration. The service was meeting the requirements of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards . People were supported to make choices to have maximum control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible.
Broad Oak Manor Care Home
We make a point of celebrating birthdays and special occasions, as well as national festivities such as St Andrew’s Day, Mother’s Day and Burns Night. We have built-in music systems to provide ambience and we dress our dining rooms in the evening. The home’s caring team has created a family atmosphere, encouraging everyone to eat and celebrate special occasions together. Residents are invited to decorate their rooms with small items of their own furniture and treasured belongings so that it feels just like home.

Broad Oak Manor in Dartford provides nursing and residential care for anyone looking for a short stay or more permanent accommodation. We welcome anybody living with Parkinson’s and will help with end of life care when needed. Within each of our care homes the Care Home Manager leads a team of care and support Colleagues with skills and experience relevant to their respective discipline. Our family of care homes aim to deliver the kindest possible care and enhance the quality of life of Residents who choose to live with us. Broad Oak Manor has an ‘Open Door Policy’ to visitors and our management team is always available to answer any questions or give advice.
The provider ensured that appropriate infection control procedures were in place to minimise the risk of cross infection. Staff were provided with appropriate personal protective equipment and a range of audits relating to infection control had been conducted. The provider had arrangements to receive feedback from people who used the service, their relatives, external stakeholders and staff members about the services provided. People were confident to raise anything that concerned them with staff or management and satisfied that they would be listened to.
For services we haven't rated we use ticks and crosses to show whether we've asked them to take further action or taken enforcement action against them. – the service isn't performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve. Be assured we’re taking extra measures to prevent the spread of infection in each of our homes, including frequent deep cleaning and rolling out testing for our staff and residents. All residents appreciate the key things like delicious meals and laundry services.
Inside Health Relevant health and wellbeing advice from our Bupa experts and influential guest speakers. Residents are served three meals a day, as well as a mid-morning snack and afternoon tea. We use fresh ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible, with the emphasis on providing delicious seasonal meals. We understand the nutritional needs of older people and create meals that offer the correct calorific and nutritional content.

Three of the people we spoke with described the home as, 'A very social place to live'. The management team worked hard to create an open, transparent and inclusive ethos within the service. There was a robust quality assurance system in place and shortfalls identified were promptly acted on to improve the service.
There were 17 people accommodated at the home at the time of this inspection. Broad Oak Manor Nursing Home provides accommodation for up to 27 older people who require nursing care. At the time of our inspection 19 people lived at the home.At the last inspection in January 2016 the service was rated Good. Their comprehensive learning and development programme enables them to explore a number of ongoing development opportunities so that they enjoy a long and rewarding career within our care homes. Care Home Managers are supported by a number of Colleagues with specific expertise and training in their chosen field as outlined below. The provider worked with other organisations to ensure people achieved positive outcomes and lived comfortably.
Daily life is thoughtfully designed to support mind, body and soul. In one of our 29 luxury houses on Broad Oak Lane, you can continue to live independently while benefiting from all the care and support of our staff, as well as being part of the Broad Oak Manor community. Working in the care industry can be really challenging – we can’t deny that. However, knowing you’re making a positive difference to peoples’ lives every day is really fulfilling. When you work in care, your role, no matter how senior, will play a huge part in helping others and improving their health and wellbeing. No two days will ever be the same but you’ll certainly be making a difference every single day.
These often have different themes and are carefully planned so that residents of all capabilities are able to take part. We’re doing everything we can to keep our residents connected to their loved ones and the wider community, from video calls to letters and our new Bupa Buddy service. Our housekeeping teams take great pride in overseeing the essential housekeeping duties that make the “house a home”. Care homes are very busy places and with all the comings and goings our housekeepers work tirelessly with laundry, cleaning and the general interior presentation of the care home. Assisted by suggestions from our Residents, our home’s Wellbeing Coordinators organise a varied year round programme of things to do. Many Residents take pleasure in hobbies, including baking, writing, gardening, dancing, painting, quizzes, and playing chess.
A range of audits were in place to accurately measure the quality and safety of the care provided and improve where needed. Wellbeing Coordinators work closely with our professional nursing and care teams to deliver meaningful lifestyles and a sense of wellbeing to Residents. Throughout the week wellbeing coordinators plan a range of activities that help Residents to maintain their hobbies, learn new hobbies and to have opportunities to engage with the local community. We observed that people were treated in a dignified and courteous manner by the staff.
